How Are Computers Made?

As the world is progressing, things are changing rapidly. Technology that is the life blood of the modern world has taken long strides to catch up with this progression. The computer is the most advanced machine the technology has gifted to the mankind in this process. So it is important to know how computers are made and how they work.

To make a computer is a complicated process and it has many different parts that make it work. The first electronic computers were invented in the middle of 20th century. First they were as big as a room and it consumed a large amount of power. This paved its way to evolve the modern personal computer (PC) which works on integrated circuits.

A computer has many parts in it. It starts with a mother board which being the foundation of a computer has a printed circuit board that determines the quality of a computer. The mother board is a copper circuit board with electrical pathways. The Central Processing Unit (CPU), Random Access Memory (RAM), optical drive, hard disk operating system are the other key parts of a computer. The computer programs are executed by the CPU which is made of silicon and metal.

RAM which is called the brain of a computer is responsible for computer data storage and it works efficacious since it can access any random cell. The RAM determines the speed of the computer. The power supply in the RAM converts the alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC).

The optical drive comprises of encoded data and microscopic pits while the hard disk gives extra space for disk storage. The software that runs the computer is the operating system. It makes the user work on various applications like DOS, UNIX or windows.

The computer is made by aligning motherboard with a microprocessor chip. Then the heat sink is installed which absorbs the heat by using thermal contact. The mother board is connected by power lead and RAM is instilled then. The mother board is placed in the case and power supply face plates and stand off are placed in order to hold the mother board case intact and in place. The wires are connected next and the CD_ROM drive is connected to the mother board.

Tower is the metal box which contains all the hardware of the computer and ports for monitor, keyboard, mouse, and all USB devices. It also includes ventilation for fan. Once the case is closed, the keyboard, monitor like all USB devices are added by connecting their wires with the devices inside the computer. Finally, the tower is checked for its quality and it is ensured that it works effectively.
